Before Creative Jungle crashed and all the entries went to internet heaven (or hell, wherever the internet gods sent it to), I had a Meg & Dia post lined up in my drafts and that was the only entry waiting to be published. So I guess it’s only proper for me to start off this blog with a Meg & Dia post.

I haven’t listened to this band since 2008 despite having one of their albums sitting in my music library. I remember Meg & Dia being part of my usual daily soundtrack back in 2006, when I was still in college. I used to work on 3D projects or Flash animations on our school computers with songs from Our Home Is Gone blasting from my headphones.

A few weeks ago, I decided to find out what’s been going on with the band that pretty much kept me sane all throughout college. About a year too late, I decided to check out Here, Here and Here. It did not disappoint.

That was three weeks ago. Now I’ve bought Our Home Is Gone, and a couple more of their EPs. It’s amazing how this band has captured me again as a fan, and I have to say that it’s entirely because of their passionate songwriting.

From Here, Here and Here, my favorite song would probably be Hug Me though to be honest, I love all the songs. Some of them need a bit of warming up to, but once you listen to them a couple of times, you will definitely end up loving them.

Recently, they were dropped from their label, Warner Bros. Records. But they’re still rocking and are set to release a new record sometime this year, independent of a label.

You can listen to all their songs through their official BandCamp account. You can also buy their albums there for really reasonable prices. They also have a Twitter account, @megdia, which you can follow for updates.
